Thing 3
I've added 3 or 4 feeds, and while I can see that it will be nice to have information sent to me rather than me having to go out and search for it, I'm still a little cautious. About 10 years ago I signed up for LMNET. It was great and full of tons of information. However, I ended up having to stop it because I was spending way too much time reading through it. I can see that this might end up the same way. I'll give it time and try it out, however. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised!

Thing 2
I have been struggling with all that I have read about Web 2.0 and Library 2.0. I'm afraid that my age is showing and that this change may be just a bit too much for me to handle. That is frightening to me since I have always felt that I have moved on with change over the many years I have been working in libraries and media centers. I see myself relating with Librfun who commented on Blyberg's article, "11 Reasons Why Library 2.0 Exists and Matters," when she/he said, "I realize that I have to let go of tradition and respond to what the users want and are asking for. Doesn't mean that I don't occasionally drag my feet, but I would prefer to run with the worlves and not be left behind." Some random thoughts:
Probably my greatest fear is that in all of this we may lose human contact. If we only go to the Web for information, etc., when do we ever talk face - to - face with another human being? I am too much of a people person to even think about letting go of that. My fears probably grow as I find myself even more likely to email someone (even just a friend for purely social reasons!) rather than to pick up the phone and call them.
As a teacher/media specialist in an elementary school, if this is the way of the future, then it is even more imperative that we teach students how to think; how to evaluate all that they read; not to trust everything they see posted on the Web. Writing skills must also be perfect, since there will be no body language nor voice to help with understanding.
Now I need to move onto Thing 3 and let all of this information process as I learn some new things!

Thing 1
I have my blog created, have added my avatar, and now I'm ready to begin to learn more fun things. I have been wanting to learn more about blogs and getting one set up for myself and this provided the impetus for me to dive right in. The only negative so far is that I really did not want to create another email account for myself. I wish there could have been a way to add an avatar without creating a new email account which I probably won't use. Even so, I'm looking forward to this adventure!
